WHAT: The historic Wawona Golf Course is a nine-hole, par-35 course that measures 3,050 yards from the longest tees and has a slope rating of 124 and a 34.3 USGA rating. The course features 2 sets of tees for different skill levels and the different tee positions per side provide a par-70, 18-hole format. The fully stocked pro shop has a golf professional available for lessons. A putting green (but no driving range) is located near the pro shop.
Its scenic fairways and well-placed greens amidst towering pine and incense cedar trees make for a refreshing outing. During the early mornings and evenings, deer might accompany you from hole to hole as they graze along the course's boundaries.
WHEN: ALERT: The Wawona Golf Course is not open for the 2021 season. The course opens as conditions permit usually from May through October.
WHERE: Wawona Golf Course is located across from the Wawona Hotel in Wawona, about five miles from the southern Yosemite entrance on Highway 41 (Wawona Road) and about 67 miles (1 1/2 hours from Fresno, CA. From Yosemite Valley, it is about a 45-minute drive.
The Pro Shop can be found at the west end of the Hotel Annex building which leads across the street to the course.
HOW & HOW MUCH: The course is open to the public and one need not be lodging at the Wawona Hotel to use the facility (call 209 375-6572 for tee times). Park in the Hotel parking lot and go to the Pro Shop on the west side of the Hotel Annex building.
Current prices (May 2021): 18 holes on the weekend and weekday are $38 and $34, respectively. Nine-holes on the weekend and weekday are $24 and $20, respectively. Electric cart rental for 18-holes is $26.50 and $18.50 for nine-holes. Pull cart rental for 18-holes is $9.50 and $6.75 for nine-holes. Club rental for 18-holes is
$21.50 and $16.50 for nine-holes.
