YOSEMITE UPDATES/ALERTS

The Ice Skating Rink in Curry Village opened in December 2025 and will stay open through March 5, 2026 (Conditions permitting).

The Badger Pass Ski Area opened for Cross Country Skiing and Snowshoeing on January 9, 2026, and for Downhill Skiing and Snowboarding on January 16, 2026..  The resort will close on March 2, 2026, weather permitting.

ALERT 1: FEBRUARY 2026 ENTRANCE RESERVATIONS: For February 2026 in Yosemite for the Firefall, no special entry reservations are required, as the National Park Service dropped the permit system for this event, but expect parking restrictions, potential road closures (like Northside Drive), and shuttle service for the popular viewing area, so plan for crowds and early arrival or overnight lodging for easier access. The best viewing window is mid-to-late February, typically from about the 10th to the 26th, but it's weather-dependent.

ALERT 2: SUMMER 2026 ENTRANCE RESERVATIONS REQUIRED ON WEEKENDS: A reservation will be required to drive into or through Yosemite on some days from April 13 through October 27, 2026 as follows:

April 13 through June 30: A reservation is required from 5 am to 4 pm on Saturdays, Sundays, and on holidays (May 27 and June 19).

July 1 through August 16: A reservation is required from 5 am to 4 pm every day.

August 17 through October 27: A reservation is required from 5 am to 4 pm on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays (September 2 and October 14).
